Clannad
Spending their teenage years on stage in Leo’s Tavern proved to be a solid foundation for nurturing musical talent and in retrospect it’s no surprise that Moya, Ciaran and Pól Brennan followed in their fathers entertainment footsteps.
Although individually they took stage at Leos from an early age under the encouraging eye of Leo himself, the ‘band’ did not form until joined by their two uncles, twins Noel & Pádraig Duggan. Clannad was born.
From entertaining the Mín a’ Leice locals to winning the Letterkenny Talent Contest in 1970, Clannad released their first album in 1973 and went onto international success with hits such as Harry’s Game and ‘In a Lifetime’ (with Bono), winning a Grammy in 1998 after previous nominations; adding to their overwhelming timeline of landmarks which features BAFTA an Ivor Novello award wins and nominations.
