« return to newsIn order to continue the fight to protect the community and Donegals natural beauty, Donegal Alternatives To Pylons (ATP) are proud to announce the second of the fundraising Save Our Scenery GIGS.
The concert will again be hosted by MOYA BRENNAN on 3 JUNE 2010 and will feature artists:

Who have all gratefully donated their time and talent to support this cause.
Since 2000 Donegal ATP have been campaigning on behalf of the local residents and the people of Donegal for alternatives to the pylons to protect the environment and the irreplaceable, unspoilt beauty of the countryside which is a major tourist attraction for the County and the Country.
ATP and Coiste Timpeallachta Ghaoth Dobhair are local people objecting to the ESB & Eirgrid’s plans to erect a 110kv power line on 20 metre (60ft) high pylons across 102 kilometres (63 miles) of Donegal’s most scenic areas.
The proposed route goes through Special Areas of Conservation and areas of immense natural beauty that would affect protected species and habitats.
Not to mention the detrimental effect to local residents health. Studies in the UK, Germany and US have shown that incidents of child leukaemia and adult cancers are increased for people living near power lines. Childhood cancers increase 69% near power lines.
The fight for environmental protection and residents wellbeing continues.
The concerts will be held at Tabhairne Leo (Leos Tavern), renowned for its music and the home of the world famous ENYA, CLANNAD and MOYA BRENNAN. This popular tourist destination has been bringing visitors from around the world to Ireland and the North West for the past 40 years, to sample the music the scenery and culture that Donegal has to offer in abundance.
