« return to news| In order to continue the fight to protect the community and Donegal’s natural beauty, Donegal Alternatives To Pylons (ATP) and Tábhairne Leo are proud to announce the next two SOS concerts!
In a revised line up to the canceled gig from earlier in June, MOYA BRENNAN will once again be hosting an evenings entertainment featuring BRIAN KENNEDY and FRANCES BLACK on 29 June 2010 at 8pm. Celebrating 20 years in the music industry – BRIAN KENNEDY picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Meteor Awards in February 2010 and will be returning from performing at the Glastonbury Festival. FRANCES BLACK is the twice I.R.M.A. Best Irish Female Award winner. Frances recently competed in the Flora Mini Marathon to raise funding and awareness for the The RISE Foundation which Frances set up in 2006 to help families affected by addiction. The second of two concerts that week will be on 1 July 2010 at 8pm featuring T WITH THE MAGGIES – TRÍONA NÍ DHOMHNAILL with MAIGHRÉAD NÍ DHOMHNAILL, MAIRÉAD NÍ MHAONAIGH & MOYA BRENNAN and SPECIAL GUESTS on the night. TRÍONA NÍ DHOMHNAILLS career has spanned 3 decades playing with Skara Brae, The Bothy Band, Relativity, Touchstone, Nightnoise and once again most recently with her sister, MAIGHRÉAD NÍ DHOMHNAILL, also in Skara Brae and one of Ireland’s finest traditional singers. MAIRÉAD NÍ MHAONAIGH is Donegal Person of the Year. Her career with Altan began in 1987, where the band has gone from strength to strength over the years, playing the music of Tír Chonaill around the world, from New York to Tokyo and back again. Mairéad has also embarked on a solo career with her first album ‘Imeall’.
